Dental Exams & X-Rays

Regular dental exams are an important part of preventive health care. Patients are recommended to schedule a dental exam every six months. During each visit, dental X-rays will be taken of your teeth, followed by cleaning, and examination. We will also ask about current health problems you’re having or medications you’re taking. These procedures will allow us to evaluate your risk of developing tooth decay and other oral health problems.

Dental Cleaning

This is a basic preventive treatment that includes removing minor plaque and tartar buildup to reduce the risk of gingivitis and cavities. It leaves teeth feeling fresh and clean. Getting a preventive cleaning every six months is ideal for most children and adults.

Composite Filling

This basic tooth restoration procedure is designed to fill in areas of tooth decay or damage. Fillings are appropriate for patients of all ages.

Root Canal

An infection in the pulp of a tooth is the most common cause of toothache. Family dentistry includes root canal procedures to relieve pain and stop the spread of bacterial infection. This treatment involves removing infected tooth pulp and restoring the tooth with a filling or crown.

Causes of inflammation or infection:

  • Deep decay
  • Repeated dental procedures on the tooth
  • Faulty crowns
  • Crack or chip in the tooth
  • Trauma to a tooth

Tooth Extractions

If a tooth is badly decayed, in an abnormal position, and not savable, tooth extraction may be the only option. We will ensure you are comfortable at all times during this procedure. We have many options to replace a tooth once it is removed. Your comfort will be maintained at all times and you will be offered Nitrous Oxide (gas) or conscious sedation (relaxing drugs) to help you through the procedure.

Reasons for tooth extraction:

  • Teeth blocking new teeth growth
  • Baby teeth remnants
  • Orthodontic Preparation
  • Some cases of infected teeth
  • Decayed or impacted wisdom teeth

Sedation Dentistry

Sedation dentistry is a wonderful way to help people who have a fear of the dentist to receive the dental care they need. The patient will be prescribed sedatives before coming to our office to create a more relaxed and comfortable treatment. Under sedation, the patient will not feel any pain and will remember little or nothing of the experience. However, they are still able to communicate with us.
